Bingo Lingo UK

Bingo callers in traditional bingo halls would use nicknames when calling out each number, and they became known as bingo calls. No Bingo No Fun experts found out that as the game of bingo evolved, so did a unique set of nicknames for each bingo number. Used less frequently today, they were commonly used at one time and there were many variations of bingo calls to be found in bingo halls all over the UK.

No Bingo No Fun will probably not be the first to tell that numbers from 1-90 have bingo calls linked with them. Some bingo lingo is very simple, such as ‘Four and Nine’: 49. Other nicknames are vaguer, such as ‘Pick and Mix’: 26. The nickname will often rhyme with the number, for example ‘15 Young and keen’, other bingo calls don’t rhyme but have a logical reason behind them.

The following listing (provided by 90-ball-bingo.co.uk) gives some of the more frequent nicknames in the UK for the numbers called during of the game. When calling, the caller will usually announce both digits on their own first, and then the number itself, for example, "Three and two, thirty-two". Some callers will use many of these slang terms, others just a few. However, "Kelly's Eye", "Legs Eleven" and "Top of the Shop" are often used, even if none of the others are.
